    Residents grill state and federal officials over rules keeping them from rebuilding

    More than 60 local residents, property owners and elected officials packed the county commission board room for a two-and-a-half hour meeting on Saturday in which state, local and FEMA officials fielded questions about building codes and how not complying could endanger Taylor County’s participation in flood insurance programs and future federal disaster assistance.

    Hoping to learn of an exception or waiver to rules preventing them from rebuilding along the coast, some 60 local residents and business owners crowded into the county commission board room for more than two hours Saturday morning to meet with local, state and federal officials.
