A new box culvert under 1st Avenue in Steinhatchee has been installed as part of the ongoing state-funded widening and resurfacing project. According to County Engineer Kenneth Dudley, the installation of drainage structures and culverts is “ongoing, but nearing completion,” while work to build the roadway’s shoulders will be the next major construction step. Anderson Columbia is conducting the work under a $3,897,951 contract being funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.
The long-awaited project to widen and resurface 1st Avenue in Steinhatchee is now roughly 20% complete, following the installation of a new box culvert under the road.
