    Martha Louis Fernald Morgan

    Martha Louis Fernald Morgan of Perry passed into the next life April 2, 2025.

    She was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Rawlins, Wyo., but moved with her family to her father’s hometown of Tarpon Springs when she was just five years old.

    She was a 1969 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School. And she was a devoted wife, mother and friend.

    Martha’s life was centered on her faith and family. She cherished her role as a homemaker and found joy in creating a loving home.

    As a lover of the great outdoors, she greatly enjoyed traveling and fishing.

    Martha’s kindness and generosity were a comfort to all who knew her. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and a member of St. James Episcopal Church.

    Martha was a sister in the Order of the Daughters of the King, where her mission was to spread the joy of Jesus Christ and make him known to others.

    Martha attended Georgia Southern college where she met her husband, Dr. Lamar Morgan. They were married April 29, 1972.

    After moving to Perry, he worked as an office manager at Morgan Family Dentistry.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, Louis LeRoy Fernald and Helen Ingrid Gottschalk Fernald; two sons, Dr. Daniel L. Morgan and Dr. Benjamin L. Morgan; and two sisters, Joanna Fernald Frati and Priscilla Fernald Daniels.

    She is survived by: her husband of 53 years, Dr. A. Lamar Morgan; two daughters, Helen “Holly” Lee Morgan West and Amanda Van Buren Morgan Monk; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn Rose Shelton, Gradin Connor West and Gracelynn Mae Morgan; one sister, Sarah Fernald Whitcomb and her husband, Gerald Whitcomb; daughter-in-law, Iona Lynn Chastain Morgan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Viewing was held Monday, April 7, at Burns Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, at St. James Episcopal Church at 2 p.m., followed by interment at Morgan Family Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. James Episcopal Church General Fund.
