A front-end loader demolished the dilapidated brick and concrete block restaurant building located at 1700 S. Byron Butler Parkway (U.S. Hwy. 19) on Monday. Originally built in 1955, the commercial building housed Perry’s first Kentucky Fried Chicken, later was a pawn shop and thrift store and most recently operated as Barclay’s restaurant. The property was purchased in March by B&T Properties, Inc. of Perry and is being cleared for possible future economic development.
