    Members sought for RESTORE committee

    Posted on March 6, 2013

With Taylor County in line to possibly receive between $3 million and $12 million from British Petroleum’s (BP) Clean Water Act penalties resulting from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, county officials are seeking local residents to sit upon an 11-member committee which would help determine how that money is spent.

The Taylor County Commission last month established the framework for the committee, which will consist of representatives from the following areas: chamber of commerce, Tourism Development Council, economic development, education, ecological/environmental, commercial fishing, commercial crabbing, commercial shrimping, the Aucilla/Econfina area, the Beaches area and Steinhatchee.
