    Shelia Ann Baumgardner

    Shelia Ann Baumgardner was born to Matthew H. “Mack” Cruce and Juanita Bass Cruce on July 6, 1957, in Madison, and departed this life on Jan. 2, 2026 at her home in Perry. Shelia spent much of her youth with Lennie and Betty Cruce, her aunt and uncle. She graduated from Winstead officiating. Interment at Pineview followed Memorial Cemetery. She married the love of her life, Theodore Roderick “Roddy” Baungardner, on June 22, 1974. Shelia worked in the Taylor County school system as a teacher’s aide for many years. Later, she helped her husband in their well drilling business. Together, they drilled many wells throughout Taylor County. Shelia was preceded in death by: her father and stepmother, Mack and Edna Cruce; her mother, Juanita Ketring; her brother, Jimmy Cruce; and her husband, Rod Baumgardner. She is survived by: Marlene B. Doyle and Susan B. Poppell (Wayne), sistersin-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She had several special caregivers, friends, and neighbors who looked after her the last years of her life. Shelia’s wish was to be at home when she departed this life. She accomplished this wish. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home with Brother Mike Winstead officiating. Interment at Pineview followed Memorial Cemetery.
