Taylor County’s unemployment rate started 2014 by breaking a six-month downward trend, jumping to 7.6 percent in January.
January’s unemployment rate was a nearly half-percentage point jump from December’s revised rate of 7.2. The rate had been falling since July, when it was 7.9 percent.
