‘DeSantis Claus’ brings $40 million in gifts to Perry, Steinhatchee & Taylor

City of Perry, Taylor County and Steinhatchee officials attended a Wednesday press conference held at Sea Hag Marina, where Governor Ron DeSantis (left) announced more than $40 million in upcoming grant awards to the City of Perry ($25 million) for water and sewer improvements, Taylor County ($6.3 million total) for a special needs emergency shelter, repaving Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue and pursuing a commercial seafood distribution facility in Steinhatchee, Big Bend Water Authority in Steinhatchee ($4.5 million) for water and sewer mains and DMH ($4.4 million) for facility upgrades.
Calling himself “Florida’s version of Santa Claus” during a Wednesday press conference held at Sea Hag Marina in Steinhatchee, Governor Ron DeSantis came bearing gifts, delivering news that Taylor County entities will be receiving more than $40 million in funding for storm-related infrastructure repairs and improvements.
