    Posted on January 23, 2026

Joan Loretta Hathcock, a beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Jan. 15, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on Oct. 29, 1937, in Carrabelle, Joan spent her life bringing beauty and joy to those around her, both through her work as a florist. A proud resident of Perry, Joan was known throughout her community for her creative talents and warm heart. She dedicated many years to being a florist, using her artistic skills to brighten countless occasions and celebrations. Her passion for flowers was matched only by her love for her family, especially her sons, and her beloved grandchildren, who were the light of her life. In her free time, Joan found joy in crocheting and playing Bunko with her dear friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elise Stokes, and three sisters, Gerdaile Bratcher, Claudie Bratcher and Tommy Jean Bratcher. Joan is survived by: her sons, Staff L. Hathcock, Shannon Hathcock, Randy Hathcock and Gary Hathcock; 10 grandchildren; 18 greatgrandchildren; three greatgreat-grandchildren; and two brothers, Phil and Paxton Bratcher. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at noon at Southside Park. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree of your choice in her memory. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry. Friends may send condolences to the family at www. joepburnsfuneralhomes. com.
