City rejects quit-claim deed for Helen St.

The Perry City Council voted unanimously to reject a quit-claim deed from the county for portions of Helen Street that–although while privately owned–had been maintained for numerous years.

“I’m not really sure why the county did this…the deed is for the part of Helen Street they have been grading. However all records in the city and county show that there is no true Helen Street—it’s all private property. According to their (meeting) minutes, they voted to quit maintaining the road (last month) and rejected any claim of ownership of the right-of-way,” City Manager Bob Brown told council members Tuesday night.
