    Officers take part in annual Special Olympics Torch Run

    Acting as “Guardians of the Flame,” Taylor Correctional Institution (TCI) officers, PPD Detective Trace Chaffin and members off the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, City Fire Department, Taylor County Fire Rescue and Survival Flight EMS carried and escorted the “Flame of Hope” up Jefferson Street to the Taylor County Courthouse on Friday, April 10 to raise awareness for the Special Olympics.

    The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Known as “Guardians of the Flame,” law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope” into the opening ceremony of local competitions and into Special Olympics state, provincial, national, regional and world games.
