Clara Etta Baker, 94, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. She was born on Oct. 21, 1931, in Leslie County, Ky., to Myrtle and Bradley Baker. Raised in the mountains of Appalachia, she carried with her a quiet strength, resilience and deep-rooted values that shaped her entire life. Those Appalachian roots – grounded in hard work, family and perseverance – remained at the core of who she was and are a lasting part of the legacy she leaves behind. She lived for approximately 50 years in Perry. Clara was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings. She is survived by her loving family, who will carry forward her strength, values and deep sense of family. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Anderson, and Terri’s son, Derek (wife, Cristi) and their children, Amelia and Julia. She is also survived by her son, Jim Kuhn (wife, Brenda) and their son, Ben. Her daughter, Kim McAfee, survives her as well, along with Kim’s daughter, Melanie (husband, Tony) and their son, Mac. Clara also shared a special bond with her cherished niece, Charlotte Noe, and Charlotte’s children and their families, Lauren, Mindy and Mitchell. Clara’s life was rooted in family. She found her greatest joy in the generations that followed her, and she took pride in watching her family grow. Her strength, shaped by her Appalachian upbringing, was steady and enduring – something her family will continue to carry forward in their own lives. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
