    Crosby Lee Whetsel, Sr.

    Crosby Lee Whetsel Jr. was born Feb. 14, 1949, in Foley. He transition on April 13, 2026 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

    He received his education at Foley Industrial and Jerkins High School.

    As a young man, he enlisted in the Job Corps.

    Upon returning to Perry, he was employed at Buckeye Cellulose.

    He was a member of the Perry Masonic Lodge Number 187.

    He loved the Dallas Cowboys, fishing, traveling and working for and with the church.

    He also loved his family.

    He was a faithful member of Mount Olive M. B. Church. He never lost love for God, nor his acceptance of Christ as his Savior.

    He was preceded in death by: his parents, Theodore and Doretha Thomas Whetsel; his sister, Annie Mae Porter; brother, Theodore “PK” Whetsel Jr.; and his son, Jabari Whetsel.

    He leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, Crosby Whetsel Jr. (Artie), Darrin Antwan Whetsel (Christina) and Kareem Whetsel (Jawanna); and three daughters, Kimberly Whetsel, Sharonda Florence (Stafford) and Dubora Williams.

    He was the proud and loving grandfather of 27 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.

    He also leaves to cherish his memory: three brothers, Elder Robert Lee Thomas (Carolyn), Warren Whetsel (Rosalind) and Lewis Leon Whetsel (Elaine); one sister, Minister Allison McNealy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    The public visitation will be held Friday, April 24, from 5-6 p.m. at Mount Olive M. B. Church.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive M. B. Church, followed by interment at Springhill Cemetery.
