Kathy Satterwhite Newell, 77, a lifelong resident of Perry passed away on June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose kindness, dedication and gentle spirit touched many lives throughout her community. Throughout her career, Kathy faithfully served the people of Perry in several roles. She worked with the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce, also in the business office for McDonald’s and at a local physician’s office. She later dedicated many years to Doctors’ Memorial Hospital, where she served as an administrative assistant and medical transcriptionist. Her strong work ethic, compassion and commitment to helping others earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny L. Newell, and her parents, Jack and Kathryn Satterwhite. She leaves behind her loving son, Ashley Newell, and daughter-inlaw, Jennifer Newell, of Crawfordville; and her cherished granddaughters, Katherine Haleigh Newell and Kaitlyn EmmaRee Newell, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Shari Young and Leigh Satterwhite, and her brother, Al (Beverly) Satterwhite, all of Perry, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. Of all the roles Kathy held throughout her life, being “Nana” was among her greatest joys. She treasured every moment spent with Katherine and Kaitlyn, creating memories that will be forever cherished. Her love for her family was unwavering, and her warmth, laughter and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kathy’s legacy of love, service and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be remembered for her dedication to her community, her caring heart, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Forever loved, forever remembered and forever missed. Funeral services for Kathy will be held Monday, June 8, at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry, at 2 p.m., with a visitation an hour beforehand. Burial will take place at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry with Brother Danny Lundy officiating.
