Beverly J. ‘BJ’ Thompson April 1, 1945 – June 1, 2026 Born on April 1, 1945, in Boyd, Beverly J. “BJ” Thompson spent most of her life in Perry, where she built lasting friendships and created countless memories with family and friends. Beverly was a veteran who served in the United States Navy. On Jan. 4, 1980, she married the love of her life, Buddy Thompson, and together they shared 40 years of marriage, many adventures and memories. She devoted many years of service to the City of Perry. During her time there, she built countless friendships that she treasured long after her working years had ended. She was a familiar face throughout the community. She was a dedicated member of the Elks Lodge for many years. She took pride in supporting its mission and enjoyed the friendships, fellowship and opportunities to give back to others through her involvement. BJ was larger than life and impossible to forget. You could always find her in a pair of cowgirl boots and a hat, or sporting a flashy pair of sneakers topped off with a rhinestone barrette. She never met a stranger and was known for her outgoing personality, quick wit, and the countless stories she shared with those around her. She had an adventurous spirit. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time hunting or fishing and making memories with family and friends. She never passed up the chance for a motorcycle ride and loved the excitement of the open road. Whether traveling across the country or simply setting out on a spontaneous day trip, she was always eager for her next adventure and the memories that came with it. Of all the things she loved, her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with them and took pride in watching her family grow. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought endless happiness to her life and were at the center of many of her favorite memories. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles M. Thompson “Buddy;” her mother, Benita Staples; and her father, Chuck Staples. She is survived by her two children, De French and his wife, Missy, and Dana Schwab and her husband, Chad. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-grandbabies who are expected to arrive very soon, and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during services planned Saturday, June 6, at 4 p.m., at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship, located at 920 North Courtney Road.
