A GoFundMe account (search: “Help Joyce & Dave Recover from House Fire”) has been established to help David Mitchell, a former volunteer firefighter for Taylor County’s North District, and his wife, Joyce, after a devastating house fire destroyed their home on Saturday, May 30. Taylor County Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the residence on James D. Smith Road around 2 p.m. on May 30 and found the home “with heavy smoke showing.” The house sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage, and is no longer habitable.
