    Joseph Wayne Ratliff Sr.

    Joseph Wayne Ratliff Sr., age 92, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Wayne was born on April 18, 1934, in Foley to Eugene and Lillie Parker two bonus children, Alvin Simmons and Lisa Stewart Faulkner, along with many other in-and-out kids. Their home was a hub and all were welcome. Wayne and Barbara enjoyed traveling the United States, visiting all 48 contiguous states. “Papa” or “Uncle Wayne” as he was called by his crew at the mill, loved his job and had a passion for fixing things. He cared Ratliff. He was employed with Buckeye Cellulose Corporation for more than 39 years. He served as a proud member of the BCFCU Credit Committee for over 50 years and in 2014 Wayne was awarded the “Pioneer of the Year” award. Wayne was a Baptist faith and attended Athena Baptist Church. His hobbies included reloading, shooting and hunting with his brother and best friend, Royce. Wayne was a graduate of Taylor County High School. He married Barbara McIntyre Ratliff on Dec. 11, 1954. Together, they raised four children and for and loved his crew who he affectionately referred to as “His Boys.” Wayne was preceded in death by his loving wife and their infant daughter, Lola Angela. He is survived by: two brothers, Royce Ratliff (Idell) and Ronnie Ratliff ‘The fear of God is having a deep reverence and respect for Him that causes you to change your speech, behavior and how you live’ Brother David McMullen will be service. (Helen); his four children, Joseph Wayne “Joey” Ratliff Jr. (Juanita), Gregory Neal “Greg” Ratliff (Renee), Cari Beth officiating the Dixon (David) and Richard (850) 584-4149 1400 N. Johnson Stripling Rd. Perry, FL 32347 Todd Ratliff (Nicole); 10 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation for Wayne will be on Saturday, June 13, from 10-11 a.m., at Burns Funeral Home with the service to follow.
