    Goodman will speak at July 4 celebration in Steinhatchee

    Author and historian Dr. Joshua Goodman will share excerpts from his book, “Forest Capital, A History of Taylor County” as part of Independence Day celebrations in Steinhatchee.

    Goodman will speak at the Steinhatchee Little House Library, Welcome Center & Historical Gallery, located at Steinhatchee Park on Saturday, July 4, at 2 p.m.

    Dr. Goodman will have copies of his book for sale and signing. All proceeds from sales that day will be donated to the Little House Library.

    He is a sixth-generation Taylor County native and an avid Florida historian. He currently heads the Sarasota County History Center, a branch of the Sarasota County library system focusing on local history, genealogy and historic preservation.

    He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Florida State University, and a doctorate in history from Tulane University in New Orleans.

    Prior to his time in Sarasota County, Josh spent six years as the archives historian at the State Archives of Florida, as well as two years at the National World War II Museum.
