New contract increases SRDs from 6 to seven

An increase in state high-risk retirement rates, as well as being required to fill a state-mandated “school safety specialist” position with a full-time deputy, were factors that triggered a $90,000 increase in contracted services between the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and the school district for the School Resource Deputies (SRD) program.
