Giant MoonPie gone in 30 minutes!

The official specs for the World’s Largest MoonPie, which made a short-lived appearance at the 12th annual Florida State Bluegrass Festival this past weekend, were massive indeed. Measuring 40 inches across and weighing 50 pounds, the super-sized treat contained 14 pounds of marshmallow, six pounds of chocolate…and 45,000 calories.

The 2014 MoonPie Princess, Morgan A’nnia Whetsel, cut the first slice during a ceremony Friday evening and the entire dessert was gone less than 30 minutes later, 45,000 calories and all. The event was also the official unveiling of MoonPie’s newest flavor: salted caramel.
