    City covers ALPR cameras

    Posted on August 7, 2026

Following the direction of the Perry City Council to end Perry Police Department’s (PPD) Flock Safety trial program on July 28, cameras in and around the city were covered in black plastic bags on Wednesday. PPD Chief James Cruse issued an operational update Wednesday stating, “All officers were instructed to immediately stop using the ALPR cameras and any system data for operations or enforcement,” effective July 31.

City of Perry officials have terminated its Flock Safety trial program and bagged the automated license plate reader (ALPR) cameras throughout the city.
