Slaughter unseats Feagle in county commission race

    Wendy M. Slaughter

Republican challenger Wendy M. Slaughter defeated longtime Taylor County Commissioner Pam Feagle in Tuesday’s primary election 53.85% to 46.15%.

According to unofficial elections results, Slaughter received 538 votes, while Feagle received 461.

Feagle, who was first elected in 2010 and was seeking a fifth term representing District 4, will remain on the commission until Slaughter takes office in November.

In Tuesday’s election, Slaughter pulled in more early votes (214 to 161) and election day votes (261 to 205), while Feagle won in vote by mail ballots (95 to 63).

“I want to congratulate Wendy Slaughter on her win,” Feagle said immediately after election results were finalized. “I am grateful for all the support I’ve received for 16 years. I love this community and hope to see many changes.”

Agner holds off challenger for school board District 1 seat

    Bonnie Sue Agner

Taylor County School Board member Bonnie Sue Agner held off challenger Liddie Ann Davis 54.33% to 45.67% in Tuesday’s primary election.

According to unofficial elections results, Agner received 408 votes, while Davis received 343.

With Tuesday’s win, Agner earned a third full term on the school board representing District 1.

Agner was first elected in 2016, defeating fellow challenger Kevin Kidd to serve the final two years of the term vacated by then School Board member Danny Glover Jr. after he resigned to run — successfully — for school superintendent.

She was re-elected to her first full term unopposed in 2018 and was unopposed again in 2022.
