James “Jim” Lee Davis

James “Jim” Lee Davis, 79, passed away peacefully Aug. 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was a kind, gentle and giving soul, and a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher and friend who touched the lives of many. Jim was born on June 7, 1947, in Valdosta, Ga., to Claude and Arlene Davis. He graduated from Taylor County High School in 1965. Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 197292, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He is survived by: his beloved wife of 58 years, Sarah “Sally” Guthrie Davis; children, Christopher S. Davis (Tina), Stephanie D. Waite (Brad) and Angela S. Davis; seven grandchildren; brother, Richard Davis (Sherry) of Perry; and six nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m., at North Avenue Baptist Church in Lompoc, Calif., followed by interment at Lompoc Cemetery.
