Lucinda “Cindi” Smith Sherwood, 58, passed away peacefully at her home in Perry on Aug. 20, 2026. Cindi was born in South Carolina and devoted many years of her life to service as an advocate for the youth through her work as a paralegal with the Department of Children and Family Services. Above all, Cindi had an undying love for her family. She took great joy in being a mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. Her grandchildren held an especially cherished place in her heart. Cindi is survived by: her husband, Bruce Sherwood; her daughters, Samantha Nale (John), Alexandria Baker (Nolan) and Hannah Morgan; her stepchildren, Phillip Sherwood (Carla) and Ashley Sherwood Wilson (Brandon); and her sister, Karen Eastwood (Rick). She also leaves behind her many beloved grandchildren, as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Bernice Cox, and her brother, Onzie Putnam Cox.. A memorial service celebrating Cindi’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. An additional service will be held at a later date at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Little River, S.C., where Cindi will be laid to rest beside her mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Perry.
