    Council discusses ordinance allowing ‘alcohol service area’

    Shane Williamson, owner of several properties in downtown Perry undergoing extensive renovations — such as the new Salty Anchor (above) — appeared at the Sept. 10 city council meeting to advocate for outdoor seating and food and beverage consumption similar to other popular historic downtown business districts around the region and state.

    The Perry City Council has taken the first formal step toward creating a city-wide permitting process that would allow businesses to serve customers food and drink – including alcohol — in designated, enclosed areas of the public sidewalk or right-of-way next to their business.
