    PACEM explosion rocks county

    A bird’s-eye view of the PACEM Defense facility on Hwy. 19 North shows a portion of the 545-acre campus, which opened in 2013 as AMTEC-Less Lethal (ALS) with 43 employees and later grew to 82 employees after being acquired by PACEM Defense in 2018.

    A violent explosion originating in an earth-covered explosive vault at the now-shuttered PACEM munitions manufacturing facility rocked the north end of the county Wednesday night, Sept. 16, with a loud “boom” sending shockwaves that rattled windows, shook homes and knocked photos off the walls of homes miles away.
