With more than three inches of additional rain falling on the county Friday exacerbating flooding conditions in many locations, the Taylor County Commission met on Easter Sunday to declare a local state of emergency.
Commissioners discussed several situations involving floodwaters, including several homes threatened on East Ellison Road. In response to several residents’ requests, the board cited the emergency conditions and voted to authorize county staff to dig a ditch in an attempt to divert some of the water after obtaining permission from the property owners in question.
