The Florida Forest Service will host a stewardship workshop on woodland security Thursday, May 22, from 9 a.m to 12 noon in the conference room of the Perry District Office, located at 618 Plantation Rd.
“As the population of Florida continues to grow, especially into areas traditionally wooded, increased potential for trespass, theft, arson and unauthorized use in general increases,” organizers said. “What physical, operational and legal steps should you take to protect both your property and person?
“Come join us to learn some simple but effective actions you can take to get you started toward a safer and more productive environment on your woodland property.”
The target audience for this workshop is private woodland owners, but foresters, biologists and other managers of woodland property will benefit from the content as well, organizers said.
Register for the event by calling Taylor/Dixie County Forester Jim Fleming at (850) 838-2286. Space is limited.
