The Taylor County Commission this week listened to requests that they reconsider their decision to endorse a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) plan to replace the one-lane Donaldson Bridge near Shady Grove, but ultimately chose to stay their course, declining to bring the issue up for a vote a second time.
Shady Grove resident Mike Tomlinson addressed the board during its meeting Monday evening, asking the county to consider applying for funds through FDOT’s Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) to repair the bridge rather than replace it with a new, two-lane bridge, which was recommended by FDOT and will be funded through the agency’s off-system bridge program.
