    Districts get reprieve from school grade penalties

    With school districts across the state facing a new assessment exam replacing the FCAT next year, officials learned this week that they will receive a one-year reprieve during the 2014-15 school year from any penalties for low school grades.

    On Monday, Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed Senate Bill 1642, which once again tweaks the grading formulas for schools, but also removes any sanctions and penalties districts may face in 2015 due to low grades.
