Unemployment rate tumbles to 6-year low

Taylor County’s unemployment rate fell to 6.5 percent in April, the lowest rate in nearly six years.

The county’s rate was 7.3 in March after spending two straight months at 7.6 percent in January and Feburary. April’s rate of 6.5 percent was the lowest rate since June 2008 when it was 6.1 percent.
