    Company reaches settlement with OSHA over worker’s death

    The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and GLF Construction Corp. have reached an informal settlement under which the company will be fined $42,000 in connection with the Jan. 16 death of David Kimberl at the construction site of the new Aucilla River bridge on U.S. 98.

    Kimberl, 18, was crushed to death when a bridge panel, weighing nearly 1,800 pounds, fell on him while he was dismantling a section of the old Aucilla River bridge. Kimberl had been on the job for one week when the incident occured.
