Mayor Daryll Gunter has sparked a renewed debate over the controversial $14.95 per month sewer maintenance fee which the city has levied on approximately 167 residents in the Pine Ridge subdivision for the past seven years. On Tuesday he asked the Perry City Council to do away with the charge once and for all.
Although no official action was taken at the meeting, council members requested additional figures from city staff to determine the financial impact of eliminating or modifying the user fee. They also agreed to put the issue back on the agenda for their next meeting on Tuesday, July 22.
