    Commission opts out of canal study

    The Taylor County Commission declined to move forward with a study on the maintenance dredging of public canals along the county’s coast, citing the lack of available funding sources for the actual dredging.

    Commissioners discussed the possible study, which was expected to cost $35,000, at their workshop in July. County staff had recommended the commission utilize a continuing contract to award the work, which would have determined the amount of dredging necessary as well as identifying possible spoil sites.
