Fish kill reported six miles offshore

A fish kill was discovered Monday off the Taylor County coast in about 20 feet of water, according to Taylor County Marine Agent Geoff Wallat. It was not clear whether the discovery is related to a recent red tide outbreak southeast of Taylor County off the Dixie County coast.

Wallat said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) has been notified of the kill and will be sending a team to investigate later this week. Wallat said the discovery was made by County Commissioner Jody Devane, who was boating offshore Monday an estimated six miles off the coast.
