Child porn suspect tries to kill wife, self

A Perry man facing multiple child pornography charges attempted to kill his wife and himself in a failed murder-suicide attempt late last week.

Ernest Franklin Jones, 69, had been released on his own recognizance (ROR) in August following a second arrest for child pornography charges. (Jones was first arrested June 12 and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). He posted a $30,000 bond and was released. The State Attorney’s Office filed an additional 11 charges against Jones Aug. 15. The Perry man was booked at the Taylor County Jail and released at that time ROR per the order of Judge Bill Blue.)
