Forty-four years after U.S. Army SP4 Billy Jacob Hartsfield was killed in action during the Vietnam War, the new bridge crossing the Aucilla River on U.S. 98 will be dedicated in his honor.
A ceremony will be held Monday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. at the bridge, which was completed earlier this year. The event is expected to feature local officials along with State Rep. Halsey Beshears and Sen. Bill Montford, as well as representatives from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
