Delays plague road project

Just when construction work will begin on Providence Road, a 3,800-foot roadway north of Perry which will connect U.S. 19 and the site of AMTEC Less-Lethal Systems, Inc. (ALS), is up in the air as the county continues working through the permitting process as well as awaiting the results of what is now a contested bid process.

The road project is being funded through a $1.4 million Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Economic Development Transportation Fund Grant with no local match.
