Council favors alcohol sales in restaurants on Sundays?

    Posted on November 5, 2014

The Perry City Council appears to be moving toward amending its current alcohol ordinance to allow restaurants to serve alcoholic beverages on Sundays.

Last week, council members heard from supporters and opponents of the proposal during a first reading of the amended ordinance. At the end of the discussion, the council directed staff to return proposed language that would not only allow Sunday alcohol sales in restaurants, but also special event permits for outside events (i.e. beer gardens at festivals/community events). Members also asked for a second option that would allow Sunday sales at all businesses which offer alcohol (i.e. sports bars, package stores, etc.).
