The Taylor County School District is one of four districts in the state to be chosen by the Florida Department of Education to participate in a pilot program to help integrate technology into teacher instruction and to study how it affects student performance.

Along with Taylor, the counties participating in Project Optimize are Flagler, Alachua and Pinellas.

According to Superintendent of Schools Paul Dyal, the district was chosen based in part on its recently submitted Digital Classroom Plan.
