Holton drops lawsuit

Tonya Holton, self-proclaimed “whistleblower,” dismissed her $75,000 federal lawsuit against the City of Perry Monday, just two days before attorneys for the city were set to seek sanctions against her and an emergency injunction to quash forthcoming depositions related to the case.

“Choosing to dismiss this lawsuit, on the advice of my attorney, has no impact on where I stand tomorrow or any of the days that follow. While the path may be altered, the direction I am heading has not changed, and my goals are the same,” Holton said in a statement Tuesday.

Both parties agreed to bear their own legal costs related to the suit.
