Today, Jan. 16, the Taylor County Master Gardeners will join the Division of Forestry and the City of Perry in celebrating Arbor Day beginning at 9 a.m. in Rosehead Park where the city will have a program and tree planting ceremony (just north of the Farmers Market pavilion).
Master Gardeners will set up under the pavilion and, following the program, will be giving away free, native trees along with information on proper tree planting and care.
Trees are limited to two per person while they last. Available trees include Silver Maple, Paw Paw, Southern Red Cedar, Ash Magnolia, Shumard Oak, Bald Cypress and Winged Elm. “They are small bare root trees and will need to be planted or potted up right away,” the Master Gardeners advise.
