    Governor selects Taylor County native Swearingen to lead FDLE

    Taylor County native Rick Swearingen, who was named interim commissioner of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) last month, has been named the permanent commissioner by the Florida Cabinet.

    The move has been met with controversy, although not with Swearingen himself, but instead over allegations the governor’s office forced his predecessor, Gerald Bailey, to resign rather than the move being voluntary.
