Work begins on VA clinic

After more than two years of discussions between Taylor County and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) over the establishment of a VA clinic in Perry, work has begun on the proposed site and the facility could begin serving local veterans as soon as September.

With VA patients forced to make trips to other cities for treatment, re-establishing a clinic in Perry has been a priority of the county commission since the one at the Health Department in Taylor County closed in July 2011.
