“The Croods” is a straight-up family comedy, with just enough emotional punch at the right moments to make it memorable. Add in stunning visuals and a very imaginative world of prehistoric flora and fauna, and you have a solid early-year animated release.
Not all movies set out to do the same thing, and “The Croods” is ultimately highly successful at accomplishing its goals: making its audience laugh at the right moments and looking in awe at a series of beautiful and creative visuals.
The film is rated PG for some scary action.
