20-year veteran named police chief

Outgoing Perry Police Department (PPD) Chief Vern Clark gave a personal recommendation for his replacement, one that apparently carried weight with the selection committee.

His recommendation, 20-year police department veteran Jamie Cruse, was offered the job and he accepted. His first full day as chief was Thursday, Feb. 19.
