    CERT training sessions offered

    Posted on March 6, 2015

Taylor County Emergency Management is offering its second certification training program for Taylor County coastal residents. Residents of Jena and Dixie County are also welcome to attend.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a national and statewide initiative for local communities.

“In the event of an emergency, self-reliance is important until trained assistance can arrive,” officials said. “Become a trained CERT member for your community. Basic training includes fire safety, medical operations, light search and rescue and much more.”

Those interested in taking part can choose between two upcoming sessions:
    • Tuesday, March 10, 6-8 p.m. at Blue Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 21028 Beach Road near Cedar Island; or
    • Thursday, March 12, 6-8 p.m. at Steinhatchee Community Center, 1013 Riverside Drive in Steinhatchee.

For more information, contact Taylor County Emergency Management Director Steve Spradley at (850) 838-3575.
