An official with the University of Florida & Shands Communications has clarified the cause of a precautionary landing made Tuesday by the ShandsCair helicopter stationed at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital.
“An emergency landing is not the same as a precautionary landing. In this case, the pilot made a decision to land in an abundance of caution, even though the helicopter could have continued flying. Maintenance came and fixed a minor problem on the helicopter that did not affect the flying ability of the aircraft. Yesterday evening (Tuesday), this same UF Health ShandsCair completed a flight uneventfully with the same aircraft,” Director of News and Publications Melissa Lutz Blouin said Wednesday.
