When Taylor County firefighter David Williams died in the line of duty in 1997, he left behind two young children, a son, Trenton, then eight, and a daughter, Jordan, five.
On Tuesday, those children—now adults— were able to see firsthand that their personal hero, their father, had not been forgotten by his firefighter family.
The two, joined by a host of family members, took part in a dedication ceremony for the Monument to Florida’s Fallen Firefighters at the Capitol Courtyard in Tallahassee.
