UPDATED: The Perry Police Department released the following statement regarding the suspicious package: “We have been asked by some concerned community members about a bomb threat. We are pleased to report that there was not a bomb threat. The Perry Police Department was called to a suspicious package that was left on the steps of a local church today. Members of the regional bomb squad came to assist and determined that the package was not dangerous. As it turns out it was a box of books that was left for the church.”
PREVIOUS: The Perry Police Department was investigating the placement of a suspicious package at an area church Tuesday afternoon. The package was discovered by the pastor at the church who immediately called law enforcement. At presstime Tuesday, the scene was still active and local authorities were awaiting the arrival a bomb squad from Tallahassee.
